A Lesson in Humility
Going through a day filled with blessings is, in itself, a gift worth being grateful for.
For me, Friday is a day to rest. After several exhausting days, I sometimes choose not to push myself too hard.
I take the time to slow down, to check my motorcycle, clean the house, or simply stay home and enjoy a quiet moment.
When I start to feel boring, I may occasionally turn my driver account back on and return to the road to earn a living.
We do not always have to chase everything at once.
There is a time to work, and there is also a time to pause and rest.
But what touch me most today is the Friday sermon at Raodatul Jannah Mosque.
The sermon remind me of something we often fail to recognize, our human ego.
Sometimes, we think we are better than others. We feel smarter. More successful. More experienced. More charitable.
And sometimes, without realizing it, we may even feel closer to God.
Yet when our hearts begin to say, “I am better than him,” perhaps that is precisely when we need to reflect on ourselves the most.
Because we never truly know how another person's journey will end.
Someone who may seem ordinary today could be far more honor in the sight of Allah.
And someone who feels superior today may actually be facing a test through their own arrogance.
So, guard your heart.
Do not let your kindness make you feel superior to others.
Do not let your knowledge lead you to look down on those who know less.
Do not let your success make you forget that everything we have is ultimately a trust.
Learn to be humble.
Because the more we learn, the more we should realize how much we still do not know.
Perhaps that is what true growth looks like, not only becoming better at what we do, but also becoming more humble as human beings.
This Friday reminded me once again, there is no need to feel superior to anyone. Just strive to become a slightly better version of yourself than you were yesterday.
Alhamdulillah for a peaceful Friday, sufficient provision, time to rest, and a sermon that once again reminded my heart of what truly matters.
Blessed Friday.
