Nostalgia with Father

Image
Today begin with an unexpect call from my father. His voice sounded cheerful, though tired. “This is my work, clearing two rows of pepper plants,” he said in his distinct Konjo accent, which always reminds me of Tawau. I smiled as I listened. Father spoke while asking for prayers to always be blessed with health. Despite his age, his spirit for farming remains strong. He is currently planting pepper, a crop that has become our family’s daily source of livelihood. Hearing his story warmed my heart. I was reminded of my childhood, when I often helped him on the farm, though I usually played more than worked. Now, being far from Tawau, those memories feel so close. In return, I took photos and videos of my activities as a rider today, delivering orders from one place to another. I wanted him to know that I, too, work hard, albeit in a different path. I sent him the photos and videos, hoping to cheer him up and show that I have never forgotten the values of hard work he instilled in me. I ...

In Solitude

Today, the atmosphere in the factory feels so quiet. Ever since I checked the electrical currents, this place has become very empty. Imagine, the warehouse that has been standing since 1993, I only started to dismantle it today. I'm busy sorting through and reviewing items that can be reused or recycled. After ensuring the safety of the electrical aspects, I hope the machines are still in good condition. The presence of three workers today, namely Mr. Japri, Irfan, and myself, must work hard to achieve the target as soon as possible. In a maximum of two weeks, hopefully, this goal can be realized with Allah's permission. However, earlier, I was truly surprised when I heard cries of pain. I thought it was the sound of pain from my coworker, Irfan, who was working. The cries of pain sounded like a machine getting stuck or someone getting injured. Without hesitation, I immediately rushed to the sound and checked on Irfan. But when I arrived at the scene, nothing was happening. The...

AMERICA IN RELATIVE DECLINE: A CRITICAL TRANSITION PHASE

Image
It’s been 100 days since Trump began his second term as president. In American political culture, this "first 100 days" is often seen as an early benchmark—a glimpse of what’s to come. Unfortunately for Trump 2.0, this period has been marked not by bold achievements, but by economic missteps and global miscalculations. His renewed obsession with tariffs has spooked markets. Nearly 10% of U.S. stock value vanished in just three months—not because of a real crisis, but because of manufactured uncertainty. His promise to end wars in Ukraine and Gaza remains unfulfilled, exposing the gap between campaign rhetoric and governing reality. Some have gone as far as to call Trump an agent of sabotage—perhaps even a tool of Moscow. But such simplistic conspiracies ignore a far more complex truth: America's decline is not about who occupies the Oval Office. It’s structural, systemic, and inevitable. Even under Biden or Harris, the fundamentals wouldn’t change. The world is recalibrat...
