The Consequences of Watching Sinetron

I still remember the memories with Kanda Jufri Padong. During the month of fasting at Pusdam, we were always caught watching Sinetron by KH. Alwi.

As usual, after the Zuhr prayer, we would have a Kultum. When KH Alwi delivered his Kultum, we became the subject of his talk. "The month of Ramadan should be filled with beneficial activities, such as religious gatherings, reciting the Quran, memorizing it, or teaching children how to read it. But instead, this fasting month is spent watching sinetron. Look at those men over there!" pointing towards us in front of the congregation. We felt ashamed. But that's how KH reprimanded us.

The next day, we truly changed. After the Subuh prayer, we continued reading the Quran. It felt like we managed to read several chapters until it was close to Zuhr time. As we approached Zuhr, we took a short break and decided to turn on the TV to relax for a while. Unfortunately, when we turned on the TV, sinetron shows were still on, and at the same time, we were caught again by KH Alwi who said, "These are the young men, in the month of Ramadan, still wasting their time on pointless matters. Where is this nation heading?"

As usual, we became the subject of KH Alwi's Kultum again after Zuhr.
