Makcik Ida, A Role Model, And H. Mursalim, A Generous Community Leader
Last night, even though my UTC 2023 team had a meeting via Google Teams, I managed to visit Auntie Ida's house.
Auntie Ida asked for help in logging in to the KBRI Kuala Lumpur website for her personal affairs. As per the Bulukumba people's tradition, her hospitality was unique and remarkable, reminding me of my hometown.
What's even more impressive is that Auntie Ida is an inspiring mother. Her four children have completed their studies in prestigious fields of study and work for state-owned enterprises and government agencies. What amazes me is her approach to educating her children through long-distance relationships. In Klang, she is an example of a mother who strives hard for the success of her children abroad.
However, today I received news from Bulukumba. H. Mursalim, our neighbor and community leader, has passed away. Innalillahi wainna ilahirajiuun. He was a good person and a role model for us. He was a pioneer in Barang, Kajang, and his tracks have been followed by our generation. My mother once recounted that before I knew him, she said, "There is a successful family, ordinary people who now become respected people, he supervises all schools in Kajang."
My mother was right. He was a good person. He often worshiped at the Fastabiqul Khaerat Mosque, Barang, with his wife. Everyone knew him well.
