Learning Independence: The Story Behind E-Hailing Training
This holiday brought a new and inspiring experience with my younger brother, Nasir. He works part-time as an e-hailing driver, managing two accounts at once: the Green App and the Orange App. I decided to join him and learn directly from his daily routine.
This experience was more than just technical training on how to use the apps. It opened my eyes to the remarkable independence he has demonstrated. Through this job, Nasir has been able to support himself—covering rent, motorbike installments, daily necessities, and even his university tuition fees. He bears all these responsibilities with great dedication, relying on no one but himself.
As his older brother, I feel proud and grateful to see his progress. Despite his busy schedule with e-hailing, Nasir is also working on plans for a small business (UMKM), which he dreams of establishing in the future. He is not only working hard for today but is also thoughtfully planning his future.
At the same time, this opportunity allowed me to rediscover Makassar, a city that has significantly developed since I last visited in 2016. The city's progress seems to mirror the spirit of young people like Nasir, who relentlessly strive for a better life.
