Pung Juma ku
Yesterday, Thursday, August 14th, 2024, was a day filled with sorrow for our family. My uncle, Juma Bin Giling, finally breathed his last breath in Sabah. Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un.
It never crossed my mind that this day would come so soon. When he wanted to return to the village, he invited me to come along. He was worried seeing me alone in Selangor, concerned that I wouldn't be able to manage on my own. However, I insisted on staying because I was still pursuing my studies, and my brother Nordin was also coming to Selangor.
Upon hearing this, he and Aunt Eni returned to the village in Kajang, South Sulawesi.
I cannot deny that Pung Juma and Pung Eni were the first pioneers in our family to migrate and settle in Selangor. After that, my father, Kak Nia, Marni, Ikram, and eventually I followed.
His passing has left a deep sadness in my heart, especially since I haven't had the chance to graduate and meet him and Pung Eni.
