SG4
The issue of SG4 (Sustainability Growth for 4 Southernmost States) warrants serious consideration, particularly in the context of economic development and political stability in Malaysia. This idea has emerged as an initiative to bolster the economic growth of the southern states, which may feel they have not received equitable development allocations from the federal government.
From one perspective, SG4 can be seen as a positive effort to promote a more organised and self-reliant economic development. If successful, this initiative could serve as an example to other states of the potential to maximise their resources and capabilities without overly relying on external assistance. It might also prompt the central government to reassess its development policies, making them more inclusive and equitable for all states.
However, at the same time, there is a risk that initiatives like SG4 could lead to fragmentation within national unity. The expansion of concepts such as "Bangsa Johor" and "Sarawak for Sarawakians" signals concerns about the country's long-term cohesion. This could create new dynamics that may be difficult to manage and could potentially undermine the federalist principles upon which Malaysia was founded.
