Loving the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
This sermon emphasizes the importance for Muslims to cultivate a deep love for the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who was sent by Allah as a messenger of truth and mercy for all of humanity. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is not only a role model in speech and actions but also an exemplary leader in all aspects of life. Allah states in Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 21, "Indeed in the Messenger of Allah, you have an excellent example," affirming that the Prophet is the best example for mankind.
The sermon urges Muslims to reflect on the extent of their love for the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and how they demonstrate this love in their daily lives. Merely professing love for the Prophet without following his sunnah and adhering to the Islamic teachings he conveyed is not a true testament of love. Allah reminds us in Surah Ali-Imran, verse 102, "O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims."
A crucial reminder in this sermon is that Muslims must safeguard the honor of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from any form of mockery or slander. In Surah Al-Taubah, verse 24, Allah warns, "Say: If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, the wealth you have acquired, the commerce you fear will decline, and the dwellings you love are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and striving in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His decree." This verse serves as a reminder for Muslims to place their love for Allah and His Messenger above all else.
Among the ways to express love for the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as highlighted in the sermon, are to revive his sunnah in daily life, frequently send blessings (salawat) upon him, and remain steadfast in defending the religion of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said in a hadith narrated by Imam al-Bukhari, "None of you will have complete faith until I am more beloved to him than his father, his children, and all of mankind."
Finally, the sermon calls upon Muslims to improve their faith and deeds, to make love for the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) a guiding principle in their lives, and to diligently strive in preserving the religion and the nation.
