Integrity: The Core of National Harmony
The Friday sermon yesterday titled "Integrity: The Core of National Harmony" emphasized the importance of integrity as a foundation for a harmonious life. Integrity is defined as honesty, sincerity, trustworthiness, and other noble traits that make a person reliable and responsible. Prophet Muhammad SAW exemplified high integrity, recognized as al-Aamiin (the trustworthy) and possessing qualities such as As-Siddiq (truthfulness), Amanah (honesty), Tabligh (conveying the message), and Fatonah (wisdom).
Several references highlighted in the sermon included:
1. The Quran, Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 21: Reminds Muslims to take Prophet Muhammad as the best example of trustworthiness and honesty, leading to success in this world and the hereafter.
2. Hadith narrated by Imam Ahmad: Emphasizes the virtue of honesty, which leads to goodness and paradise, and warns against the dangers of lying, which leads to harm and hell.
The sermon also reminded that integrity is crucial in strengthening harmony in a multicultural, multiethnic, and multireligious society like Malaysia. Every individual is encouraged to avoid negative behaviors such as corruption and deceit, and to cultivate trustworthiness starting within the household.
