Traffic Congestion and Flooding
Today, I experience an unprecedent level of traffic congestion. Initially, I assumed that the gridlock was caused by the ongoing strike of online transportation drivers in Makassar, which took place from February 11 to 13. Reportedly, the strike involved all major ride-hailing platforms, including Grab, Gojek, Maxim, and InDriver, with key gathering points spread across several areas such as Sudiang, Biringkanaya, Tamalanrea, Moncongloe, and Barombong.
Drivers actively reminded each other to deactivate their applications during the protest in solidarity with their collective cause.
However, the primary cause of today's severe congestion was not the drivers' strike but rather massive flooding triggered by the overflow of water from the Bili-Bili Dam. Authorities were compelled to release nearly half of the dam’s water due to its inability to withstand the continuously rising water levels.
As a result, my activities today were significantly restricted. After briefly venturing out in the morning to seek sustenance, I ultimately decided to remain at home and rest. Perhaps this situation serves as a divine reminder—a moment to pause, reflect, and draw valuable lessons from the circumstances unfolding around me.
