Donald Trump's Inauguration

Today, a new chapter in history was written as Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. In his inaugural address, two points caught my attention.

First, Trump openly expressed his intention to "take back" the Panama Canal. Citing strategic reasons to curb China's influence, Trump revived an old American agenda to regain control of the canal, which the U.S. once governed before handing it over to Panama in 1999.

Second, Trump's grand ambition to "colonize" Mars. He aspires to be the first leader to send humans there, carrying the spirit of Manifest Destiny into space, expanding U.S. territory not just on Earth but also in the galaxy.

However, these moves reflect the anxiety of a declining superpower. As with other empires throughout history, aggression often signals downfall rather than resurgence.

Is this the beginning of a new era or merely a final attempt to maintain dominance?
